What path should I follow?

Hi Des_b, thanks for your reply and attention, for the present time I'll have to wait for this downturn moment to pass, not only for the world petroleum industry udownturn but also the actual internal corruption petrobras is struggling within, with affects significantly the whole Brazilian economic (wasn't very good already) situation, especially on the energy field. Looks like everything is happening at the same time. So, I'll have to wait on where I am.

Greetings

Shame their rates are appallingly low, would be interesting to work on these:

New Zealand - Anybody working here at the mo?

Is anybody working in New Zealand at the mo? What are the rates like for a senior pilot/supervisor here? Or I could even be a PT - no egos here I only like to do my hitch and go home!

So if you want someone, or know a company who has room for a punter with good experience on their team please drop me a line.

I am getting a little tired of the permanent jetlag from working abroad. I guess this might be a good place to put feelers out instead of sending my CV to a bunch of companies.

Hey and if you are working for someone and are unhappy here in NZ please share your experiences.

Hi!

I have a IMAGENEX 881A on my Falcon ROV, obviously it is fitted vertically.

I would like to know if i can fix it horizontally in a tow fish and use it as a side scan sonar for a large scale bottom survey?

Any idea?

Thank

Wawaron

Maybe that's what's needed, I just hope its done sooner than later. I would hate to see some good lads get laid off before someone comes in with a plan for going forward.
I'm personally gutted at the news but also disappointed, as Fugro claimed at the start of the year that although the conditions where tough, Fugro was in a better position than most to ride it out, yet a couple of months down the line, wham!

Howzit Roost, greetings from Benoni. Just wondering if you got any further with your SA enquiries, as I am looking around at local options too.

Hi Roost/Bullfish,

AFAIK there are two companies doing an ROV course in Cape Town:

- Ezze Marine in Killarney Gardens
- Marine Solutions in Paarden Island

They both cost about +/- R 50 000-00 (check with them to confirm latest prices)

A buddy of mine done his ROV course with Ezze marine & was happy with the training supplied. I can't comment on Marine Solutions.

Best bet is to physically go visit both companies & speak to the trainers, look at the facilities etc (then make your decision from there if you still keen).

I completed my course @ MTCS in Singapore (my company sent me), but as you'll find out if you read previous posts on the subject, the ROV course is a "nice to have" & will not guarantee a job in the industry.

Cheers

Greetings from South Africa.

Hello boys and girls, greetings from Benoni!
Just checking in as a fellow Saffer looking to get offshore somehow. I am a toolmaker, with varied experience from machining to scaffolding to driving trains up mountains. I am prepared to take any offshore work, just to get a foot in the door.

Anyone want to chat, lets hear it, anyone got tips or hints, lets hear it.

Stay well All

The future will only grow a lot with ROV's where with Divers there is so much limitations and it will ultimately in the future be completely replaced with ROV's.

Don't get too carried way. ROVs will never replace divers completely.

I have a problem retrieving wages from my last agency for time spent in hospital due to a work related injury.
Can any body recommend good offshore lawyers in the UK to take up my case. The work was overseas but the agents are British.
Do they all charge 30% commission or can they take on the case and claim from the company?
regards

D J

Thanks Enigma, appreciated. Costly entry fee considering no guarantee of entry. Looks like I will have to find another way in, I'm thinking of rope access, NDT, and from there on to ROV.
Enjoy!

Are you sure you have a British Contract?

Having being employed from a British Agent don't mean you have.

As for sure I don't always get one.
